Do I need to purchase separate tickets for Thinkery’s Parents’ Night Out program and my Alamo Drafthouse Cinema movie tickets?

Yes! You will purchase tickets for each child participating in Thinkery’s Parents’ Night Out program through the Thinkery website and separately purchase your Alamo Drafthouse Cinema movie tickets through Alamo’s website.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Movie Ticket Information

You may attend a movie and use your coupon for two free cookies or popcorn at any Alamo Drafthouse Cinema location. We recommend the two locations closest to Thinkery—Mueller (1 block away) and Village (6 miles away).

How will my child be supervised?

We maintain a 1 staff to 6 child ratio for children ages 4–6 and a 1 staff to 8 child ratio for children ages 6 & up.

Attendees are split into groups based on grade level and assigned at least one lead educator, 1–2 assistant educators and trained volunteers. Depending on the ages of attendees, groups will roughly be split up into these grade level ranges: Pre K–K; 1st–2nd; 3rd–5th and 6th+. If siblings that cross these age ranges would prefer to stay together, accommodations can be made.

Attendees will be escorted, as a group, too and from the bathroom by a Thinkery staff member.

How does Thinkery maintain safety during exhibit exploration and activities in the museum?

During Parents’ Night Out, Thinkery is closed to the general public. Exhibit exploration in Thinkery is limited up to 25 children to one exhibit space at a time. Staff maintains a 1:8 ratio (ages 6 & up) or 1:6 ratio (ages 4–6) during exhibit exploration and activities to ensure children are enjoying both a safe and enriching time while at the museum.

Medical Release Form

For the safety of your child, Thinkery requires that all Parents’ Night Out attendees fill out a Medical Release Form for each child participating in this event. Even if you have filled out a different Medical Release Form in the past for a previous Thinkery program, please submit your Thinkery Parents’ Night Out Medical Release Form.

Alamo Drafthouse has a strict no phone policy during shows. How can parents/caregivers be reached in the event of an emergency?

When you drop off, you will be asked to give your theater number, time and seat numbers for the movie you’ll be attending. Thinkery will have the direct phone line to the Alamo Drafthouse Mueller manager-on-duty to reach you in the event of an emergency.

Who will be interacting with my child?

Thinkery staff members at Parents’ Night Out are excited, caring and creative people.

Our staff goes through a rigorous four-stage interview process that includes: Application, group, and one-on-one interviews, reference check and a national background check. Those who meet our standards and maintain Thinkery values are invited to join the Thinkery team. Once hired, every Thinkery staff member receives 25 hours of training on Thinkery’s learning philosophy and caregiving standards. After training, staff is mentored with ongoing supervision and feedback provided by the Education Management Team. We are very proud of our dedicated and accomplished Thinkery staff.

What activities will my child enjoy?

Each Parents’ Night Out offers museum exhibit exploration, pizza dinner, hands-on activities, and quiet time activities.

Parents’ Night Out attendees enjoys exclusive access to museum exhibits when Thinkery is closed to the general public.

Pizza dinner with cheese and pepperoni pizza will be provided.

Each event includes age-appropriate, hands-on activities in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM).

During the quiet time from 9 pm until pick up, children will choose from a variety of activities in one of our Program Rooms. Activities may include board games, story time and coloring.

Can you accommodate special diets?

Pizza dinner with cheese and pepperoni pizza will be provided. We are not able to fulfill special meal requests but can accommodate children with allergies/dietary restrictions.

If your child has allergies or dietary restrictions, please plan on packing an alternative meal and be sure to include this information in your child’s Medical Release Form so our staff will be informed.
