Thinkery is one of the most dynamic (and popular!) venues in Austin, providing play-based fun for kids and adults alike.

In addition to our regular general admission schedule. Thinkery offers evening rentals for groups to enjoy our STEAM-focused exhibits and activities with a limited guest list. These private, two-hour sessions are perfect for family events and celebrations, unique work retreats, team-building events, and more. We have three different private event options to suit your needs: main floor only, second floor only, or enjoy the entire museum to yourself!

Private events are available most Wednesdays through Sundays (excluding 4 of July) from 6 pm to 8 pm. All dates are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.

Package Options:

Main Floor
Standard $900 | Member price: $850

The main floor encompasses several eclectic, interconnected galleries that focus on STEAM concepts and is an ideal option for children ages 5 and up. Your guests will be free to explore all interior gallery spaces and our popular outdoor play area, Our Backyard. The main floor can accommodate up to 75 total guests, with social distancing encouraged.

Second Floor/Upstairs
Standard $650 | Member price: $600

The second floor consists of two galleries geared toward younger visitors and is a perfect party option for kiddos age 0-5. This level also gives your group access to our Story Nook, which overlooks Mueller Lake Park. Our second floor can accommodate up to 50 guests with encouraging social distancing.

Entire Museum
Standard $1,300 | Member price: $1,200

This is the big one! Give your guests free rein of ALL our exciting galleries and exhibits, inside and out. This package can accommodate up to 125 guests, with plenty of space for safe social distancing at all times.

Health & Safety

Thinkery takes the safety of our guests and our staff very seriously. Our current health and safety protocols for both General Admission and Private Parties can be found here.

Food & Beverage

Food and beverage are currently allowed during private after-hours events. Please note that allowances may change and are dependent on CDC guidance. Ask us for updates upon booking your event.

Parking

Thinkery recommends your guests park in the McBee Parking Garage. Rates are $2/hour and your guests can pay easily as they exit the parking structure at the conclusion of your event.

Specially-priced favorites from our Thinkery Store – The play can continue for your guests with exclusive offerings from our Thinkery Store. We can craft the perfect goodie bag for hours of hands-on STEAM activities at home. We are delighted to extend special pricing consideration as a benefit of hosting your event with us.

Exclusive Membership Discount – Your private party can be the gift that keeps on giving! While onsite and for 7 days following your event, the event host(s) will be able to purchase a Thinkery Membership that lasts a full year at a special discounted rate.
