Thinkery is a leading nonprofit and children’s museum that brings joy to learning so children thrive.

In 1983, a group of Austin parents and educators created a space to provide innovative new educational and cultural opportunities to local children.

Over the next three decades and rooted deeply in its commitment to supporting a thriving Austin community, the Austin Children’s Museum would grow and evolve into Thinkery, which today offers 40,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor activities for children and families to learn through play.

Over the years, with community, we have expanded our research-backed, play-based STEAM learning experiences outside of the walls of our museum in Mueller to ensure that EVEN MORE children and families in Central Texas and beyond can experience the joy of learning. Through our STEAM Learning Institute, we continue to conduct inclusive research and provide professional development on the positive impact child-centered, play-based STEAM learning has on children’s ability to thrive.
