A recent scientific study revealed something really remarkable about Hawaiian crows, or ‘alala. After observing a captive group of these nearly extinct creatures, researchers witnessed the tropical birds use tools while foraging for food. When tasked with retrieving a hard-to-reach piece of meat, the crows used twigs to probe for food—successfully securing their snack within one minute.
