We are wrapping up our spring internship session here at the Thinkery. We had nine fantastic interns this spring! Check out what their supervisors had to say about them.
Chris Jordan, Education Intern
Chris is a very motivated and enthusiastic person who continuously strives to learn more about what it is like to work in a museum. He has shown significant interest in our community outreach programs and is starting to assist with the evaluation of those programs. He’s also very interested in applying his studies to our programs, and is currently working on helping to develop curriculum about the design process. We’re excited to be working with Chris and look forward to seeing his impact on our new outreach programs at the library.
Monica Santos, Development Intern
Monica has been a great asset to our team. She also works part-time at the Thinkery. During her spring internship she has helped edit many grant applications and given extra insight that she has from working first-hand with our visitors and learned quite a bit about Raiser’s Edge. I love Monica’s positive attitude — she’s an absolute delight to work with.
Ben Carroll, Camp Program Intern
Ben dove head first into helping up build camp curriculum with such zeal and enthusiasm. He is full of great ideas and is always willing to learn new things. The success of our summer program will definitely be in part from all of Ben’s hard work and thoughtful planning. Thanks Ben!
Estefania Ponce, Parties Program Intern
Estefania has been a shining star for the birthday party program. She has had the opportunity to see and participate in both behind the scenes preparation for Public Programs, as well as leading parties. Each week, she implements new ideas and techniques to both prep for, as well as engage children and families in our parties. Thank you, Estefania for the work you have done, you are “Dino- Mite”!
Beth Johnson, Graphic Design Intern
Beth has been such a huge help this semester! She is awesome about taking on projects, no matter what the request. Particularly, she has helped me a lot with making a variety of maps of the museum. So, if our visitors are having an easier time getting around the Thinkery, it is thanks to her help!
Ali Martinez, Marketing Intern
Ali has been a fantastic intern. Between drafting web and social media content, fulfilling donation requests and assisting at Thinkery events, Ali has demonstrated excellent communication skills and professionalism. She has been an important part of the marketing team this spring!
Adam Alcott, Early Learners Intern
Our Early Learners Intern Adam has been working hard researching new projects for our early learners to engage in as part of Baby Bloomers and Workshops. He also spends every Monday in the galleries helping to run the Little Explorer’s Lab activities during Baby Bloomers when we can be found helping little ones experiment, create and explore! Adam is also incredible at helping to prep for activities so if you ever need to know how long it takes to pre-cut 100 tiger masks you know who to ask. He is quite a popular fellow among the 2-year-old visitors of the Thinkery!
Marc Rivera, School Program Intern
From creating invoices to assisting with tours, Marc has shown great interest in the guided tour program. He helps with a lot of the “behind the scenes” work that keeps the program running smoothly. Marc has been very helpful this semester! His go getter attitude has him always asking for more projects to assist with. I truly appreciate Marc’s efforts and friendly spirit/ Thanks Marc!
Gabi Silva, Innovators Workshop Intern
Gabi, our Innovators’ Workshop Intern, assisted with activity development including delivering a new activity, Spinning Tops! Gabi also supported Thinkery21 and shared her creativity and artistic skills with Thinkery visitors.
What an amazing group of interns! Thank you to each and every one of you for helping to make the Thinkery Austin’s new home for “how” and “why!”
