UPDATE [1/4/2021]: Because Austin-Travis County remains at Stage 5, we have extended our closure for at least one additional week, with January 14 now the first possible date we may reopen for Path To Play. Little Thinkers Preschool will resume classes on Wednesday, January 6 as originally scheduled.
With the recent announcement that Austin-Travis County has reentered Stage 5 due to ongoing community spread of the COVID-19 virus, Thinkery has announced it will be closing the museum for Path To Play and cancelling all sessions from December 26 through at least January 6, 2021.
“We are extremely disappointed, but we also recognize this is a key step in protecting the health of our Thinkery guests, staff, and the broader community,” said Thinkery CEO Andy Bell. “The arrival of the coronavirus vaccine here in Austin is very welcome news, but until it is widely available we have to continue taking steps to reduce community spread.”
According to the Risk-Based Guidelines published by Austin Public Health (APH), Stage 5 means that Austin residents are asked to avoid all gatherings outside the home, non-essential travel, and non-essential business and dining.
The Stage 5 guidelines do allow for businesses to continue offering contactless options such as curbside delivery. Thinkery Shop will continue to offer curbside pickup for online orders. Please consider supporting Thinkery during our closure by shopping at the online store.
Thinkery will continue to monitor news and guidance from city, state and federal health authorities and will communicate any additional changes to Thinkery operations that may result.
The public is encouraged to stay up-to-date via Thinkery’s website (thinkeryaustin.org) and the museum’s social media accounts.
