At Thinkery, we believe in the power of hands-on, STEAM learning to spark confident, creative thinking and a lifelong love of learning. In light of shifting community needs and priorities, we’ve made the decision to adjust how we deliver on that mission.
After much thoughtful consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to close the Little Thinkers Preschool effective August 31, 2025. This was not an easy choice, and it’s not a reflection of the incredible educators who have led this program with heart, creativity, and care. Their work has created a truly special space where young learners can explore, grow, and feel seen.
So why this change?
Little Thinkers Preschool was opened to answer a need for a high-quality childhood development program during the pandemic. Over the past few years, Austin ISD and other partners have seen their offerings expanded for early childhood education, and the environment for early education in Austin has evolved. As free and low-cost public Pre-K options have expanded and community needs have shifted, we’ve seen changes in demand for our preschool program. Like many organizations, we’ve had to take a closer look at how we can best use our resources to serve families and fulfill our mission.
After careful evaluation, we’ve decided to focus our efforts on the areas where we can make the greatest impact moving forward. That includes investing in our museums, strengthening community partnerships, and expanding access to playful learning across Central Texas.
To our Little Thinkers families, past and present: thank you. Thank you for trusting us with your children’s earliest learning moments. Thank you for being part of this special chapter in Thinkery’s story.
And to our incredible preschool team: your impact is immeasurable. You’ve created a space where joyful learning came to life, and we’re endlessly proud of all you’ve done.
While we’re closing this chapter, our commitment to nurturing confident, creative thinkers remains stronger than ever. That’s what joyful learning is all about, and it’s what continues to guide us forward.
