Baby Bloomers

Toddlers take over the museum.

Members: $3 each
Non-Members: $5 each
Mondays: 9 am–12 pm and Saturdays: 9–10 am

Baby Bloomers is a specially designed program where the museum is open just for visitors ages 0–3 years—and their families! The program provides caregivers and early learners the opportunity to experience Thinkery together in an environment focused solely on them. Monthly themes and special guests engage our youngest visitors in fun, hands-on explorations and learning through play. In addition to story time and other guided experiences, free-play is encouraged in museum galleries that support the social, emotional and cognitive development of our earliest learners.

Please note, Saturdays are limited to the second level of the museum, which includes Let’s Grow, Story Nook and Currents.

Spring has Sprung!

Non-Member: $5

This month, we’ll awaken from our “winter slumber,” breathe in the fresh spring air and stretch our legs as the outdoor weather becomes much more inviting. Just like us, many plants and animals are also getting ready to come out and play!

On Mondays (1st and 2nd floor open):
Our Backyard – Make a stop at Imagination Playground to build with big blocks, connectors and more. Soak up the sun while building a beaver dam in Springs. Climb to the top of the Orb and have a bird’s eye view of Thinkery! Pretend you’re a feathered friend building a nest for your family.

Innovator’s Workshop – At Paint Wall, create a beautiful spring scene with green grass, beautiful bluebonnets and a bright yellow sun! What else will you add to your blooming mural? Stop by Animation Station and create a spring-themed movie using fresh flowers, seeds and more!

Mini Maker Lab – Explore your senses while smelling fresh flowers, feeling soil between your hands, seeing spring colors and hearing the sweet sound of baby birds chirping. What do you notice as you explore with your senses?

Light Lab – Imagine the sun shining down as you capture your shadow at the Frozen Shadow Wall. Create a spring garden at the Light Peg Wall by shaping green leaves, orange carrots and brown bunnies hopping by. What else will sprout up in your scene?

Let’s Grow – Gather eggs from the Chicken Coop, pick some springtime crops like carrots, onions and potatoes and cook up a balanced “meal” at Fresh! Café.

Move Studio – Imagine you are an earthworm in the ground and wiggle your way up to the surface. Pretend to be a bird, butterfly or bee fluttering to visit friends. Try on different wings and take flight from flower to flower, or cloud to cloud.

Story Nook – Grab a book and recreate your favorite scene, or put on a puppet show with our friends from the garden.

On Saturdays (2nd floor only):
Currents – Make music with our singing bowls, or find your rhythm with the drip beats. Listen to the ripple of the bamboo channels and recreate the sounds of a springtime rain shower.

Let’s take the plunge together and explore the world—underwater! We’ll investigate plants, animals and more!

On Mondays (1st and 2nd floor open):
Currents – Stop by Currents to explore underwater science you can see, feel and hear. What happens when waves pour down from a full bucket? What do you notice when you turn the hand crank to generate a water funnel? Splish and splash as you immerse yourself in this fun exhibit.

Spark Shop – What do sharks and airplanes have in common? Wings! Let’s build a shark launcher and see how far it will go! Choose objects of different shapes and sizes and see which will stay afloat in a column of air. What do you notice about objects that stay buoyant while others fumble to the floor?

Mini Maker Lab – Use natural materials like sand, salt and shells found at sea to create interesting art. How do these materials look and feel as you investigate them closer?

Light Lab – Let’s go deep into the sea where there is very little light. Down here we’ll find some puppets to create a fun scene with fish that glow, very large squids and other interesting creatures that enjoy the dark.

Our Backyard – Pretend to sail on the seven seas while splashing all around Springs! Let’s build a boat and go fishing—how many fish will you catch?

Innovator’s Workshop – Take a closer look at shells, seaweed and sand at Micro Eye! What other ocean treasures do you see? Create a fun movie at Animation Station with the ocean as your backdrop.

Story Nook – Grab a book and set sail with stories inspired by the sea!
