Baby Bloomers

Toddlers take over the museum.

Members: $3 each
Non-Members: $5 each
Mondays: 9 am–12 pm and Saturdays: 9–10 am

Baby Bloomers is a specially designed program where the museum is open just for visitors age 0–3 years and their families! It provides caregivers and early learners the opportunity to experience Thinkery together in an environment focused solely on them. Monthly themes and special guests engage our youngest visitors in fun explorations and learning through play. In addition to story time and other guided experiences, free-play is encouraged in museum galleries that support the social, emotional and cognitive development of our earliest learners.

Please note, Saturdays are limited to the second level of the museum, which includes Let’s Grow, Story Nook and Currents.

Member: $3
Non-Member: $5

Join us this month as we look up and take notice of all the wonder that happens above us. We’ll keep our feet on the ground while our heads are in the clouds—investigating all the questions that come to mind as we explore the sky!

On Mondays (1st and 2nd floor open):

Spark Shop – Make a flying contraption and set it to launch! Choose objects of different shapes and sizes and see which will stay afloat in a column of air. What do you notice about objects that stay buoyant while others fumble to the floor?

Innovator’s Workshop – At Paint Wall, create a colorful sky with the sun and clouds. What else will you add to your masterpiece? Stop by Animation Station to make a movie about your favorite flying creature. At Micro Eye, take a closer look at feathers, insect wings and other natural materials that help animals and insects to take flight.

Light Lab – At the Light Peg Wall, create a night sky by shaping the moon, stars, planets and more! Pretend the sun is shining down bright as you capture your shadow at the Frozen Shadow Wall.

Move Studio – Imagine you’re a bird, butterfly or bee fluttering to visit friends. Try on different wings and take flight from flower to flower, or cloud to cloud. Dance like a bee to say hello to your friends.

Story Nook – Grab a book and soar to new heights with stories inspired by the sky!

Our Backyard – Climb to the top of the Orb and have a bird’s eye view of Thinkery! Pretend you’re a feathered friend building a nest for your family. Grab a sea plane or helicopter and fly above Springs looking for a place to land.

On Saturdays (2nd floor only):

Move Studio – Imagine you’re a bird, bee or butterfly fluttering to visit friends. Try on different wings and take flight from flower to flower, or cloud to cloud. Dance like a bee to say hello to your friends.

Mini Maker Lab – Explore materials that remind us of the moon, clouds, and other objects way up high.

Currents – Water in the sky? Of course! Splash around and imagine you’re a water droplet moving through the water cycle – as a raindrop from a cloud to a river, moving to a lake and then warming back up and evaporating to a cloud again!

Mini Maker Lab – Explore your senses while smelling fresh flowers, feeling soil between your hands, seeing spring colors and hearing the sweet sound of baby birds chirping. What do you notice as you explore with your senses?

Light Lab – Imagine the sun shining down as you capture your shadow at the Frozen Shadow Wall. Create a spring garden at the Light Peg Wall by shaping green leaves, orange carrots and brown bunnies hopping by. What else will sprout up in your scene?

Let’s take the plunge together and explore the world—underwater! We’ll investigate plants, animals and more!

On Mondays (1st and 2nd floor open):

Currents – Stop by Currents to explore underwater science you can see, feel and hear. What happens when waves pour down from a full bucket? What do you notice when you turn the hand crank to generate a water funnel? Splish and splash as you immerse yourself in this fun exhibit.

Spark Shop – What do sharks and airplanes have in common? Wings! Let’s build a shark launcher and see how far it will go! Choose objects of different shapes and sizes and see which will stay afloat in a column of air. What do you notice about objects that stay buoyant while others fumble to the floor?

Mini Maker Lab – Use natural materials like sand, salt and shells found at sea to create interesting art. How do these materials look and feel as you investigate them closer?

Light Lab – Let’s go deep into the sea where there is very little light. Down here we’ll find some puppets to create a fun scene with fish that glow, very large squids and other interesting creatures that enjoy the dark.

Our Backyard – Pretend to sail on the seven seas while splashing all around Springs! Let’s build a boat and go fishing—how many fish will you catch?
