Following Governor Greg Abbott’s announcement of Executive Order GA-34, Thinkery CEO Andy Bell issued the following statement.
From the beginning of this crisis, Thinkery has made protecting the health of our visitors, staff, and community our foremost concern. That will remain the case moving forward. As a science-focused educational institution that serves children and families throughout our region, we will continue to encourage and model best practices for reducing the spread of the virus.
As such, Thinkery will continue to operate under our current health and safety protocols, which require all staff and guests over 24 months to wear a mask while in the museum and in our Little Thinkers Preschool.
We will also continue to operate our General Admission sessions at limited capacity, to allow for safe social distancing between groups while they play, learn, and explore with us.
We share our fellow Texans’ excitement about the steady declines we’ve seen recently in key COVID-related metrics throughout the state and the Austin-Travis County area specifically. We want to see those numbers continue trending downward, and we look forward to the day that our community is able to put COVID-19 fully behind us.
Until then, Thinkery will continue to monitor the state and local COVID transmission data, as well as the latest guidance from the CDC. We will continue to update and adjust our health and safety protocols based on that information. In the meantime, we will continue to do our part to protect our friends and neighbors and advance the hard-won progress all Texans have made in battling the coronavirus.
