You cannot truly experience joy when you don’t feel seen, heard, or included. That’s why at Thinkery, we strive to be a place where ALL can feel a sense of belonging. It’s an ongoing practice of listening, learning, and unlearning, but it’s one that we are deeply committed to. No one embodies that more than Sara Novo.
Sara began working on the museum floor in 2020. Now, she works behind the scenes as a Guest Experience Specialist, communicating with schools to set up Thinkery field trips. She also serves on Thinkery’s Inclusion Workgroup which focuses on looking both internally and externally at ways to increase that sense of belonging at Thinkery for all our stakeholders.
“Seeing the kids coming off the bus, they’re so excited! So that makes every single day pretty fulfilling. The kids are super excited and have such a good time here, and the teachers really feel the impact of the work that we do.”
To Sara, Thinkery holds a special place beyond just a museum.
“That’s what Thinkery is for me, a place where I can just be myself and know that I have people who will support my growth. You feel so naturally part of the community here. It’s just such a welcoming environment.”
Creating safe spaces where children and community can feel a sense of belonging is a big part of cultivating joyful learning experiences. Sara takes pride in helping create these spaces for children and educators visiting our museum and by being part of Thinkery’s Inclusion Workgroup, “a space where people are just trying to focus on all the varieties of communities that could potentially be served at Thinkery and trying to represent all those voices.”
Thank you, Sara, for bringing even more joy to Thinkery and its community!
