Yesterday, across our state, businesses like ours made decisions whether to allow Open Carry of weapons on premises. This gave me, as the CEO, an opportunity to evaluate our entire safety policy; specifically how we address weapons at the Thinkery.
I’ve made the decision that no weapons of any kind are allowed on our campus. We posted this policy yesterday on site and through social media. Overwhelmingly, you, our visitors and Members support us in this decision. We want to provide everyone a fun and safe place for hands-on learning. If you would like to discuss this matter or let us know your thoughts, please email us at info@thinkeryold.wpengine.com.
My first four months as the Thinkery CEO have been exciting with several opportunities to engage in important community-wide conversations like Open Carry, increasing our efforts to offer visitation to all the people in our community through our portfolio of Open Door initiatives, and how our community will meet the growing demand for high-quality informal Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) education for people of all ages as the Thinkery and Austin grow. I look forward to having these conversations with all of you in the coming months and years and want to thank you for your vocal support on this important issue.
Sincerely,
Troy M. Livingston
Thinkery CEO
