It’s that time again! Our popular Member Morning hours are back. The first Sunday of each month, Thinkery Members enjoy exclusive access to Thinkery exhibits and programming. Tickets are limited and advance reservations are recommended. Not a Member? Join today!
Suminagashi Fabrics, 11:15 am or 1:15 pm or 3:15 pm, ages 4+
It’s a brand-new month, and we’re kicking off a brand-new batch of Think Labs! This month in Kitchen Lab, learn about the ancient Japanese marbling technique of Suminagashi. We’re blending floating inks in pools of water to create customized works of art.
Monday, September 5
Little Builders, 9:45–10:30 am, ages 12–24 months

Do you have a little builder at home? Grab your hard hat, head to Thinkery, and get ready to tinker and build! Together, we’ll play with ramps and practice our hammering skills in these engaging, hands-on Early Learners Workshops.
General Admission, 12–5 pm, all ages
Enjoy our last Summer Monday of 2016! After Labor Day, we will resume our normal operating schedule. Moving forward, Thinkery will be closed Mondays, with the exception of our Baby Bloomers programming from 9 am–12 pm.
Wednesday, September 7
Get Amped, 3:30–5:30 pm, ages 8–12
Ready to rock? Of course you are! Our September Spark Club, Get Amped, explores the science behind rock ‘n’ roll. In this four-week series, participants ages 8–12 will channel their inner musicians and engineer customized electric guitars from the ground up. And guess what? There’s still time to sign up!
Community Night, 4–8 pm, all ages
Every Wednesday, Thinkery stays open late so families can enjoy extended museum hours, exhibits and educational activities. There is always timely, themed programming scheduled—listen in on our 6 pm bilingual story time, or pop by Kitchen Lab for a science experiment.
In addition to extended hours from 4–8 pm, admission during Community Night is by donation—meaning families are able to pay what they can. The suggested donation is just $1!
Saturday, September 10
Touring Texas: Enchanted Rock, 9–10 am, ages 0–3
Our imaginative Touring Texas “tour” of the Lone Star State heads to the heart of the Hill Country! Hike over to Thinkery and explore the natural beauty of Enchanted Rock. Together, we’ll discover dark caves, play with pink granite-inspired materials and make a sand paper cactus.
Tinkering with Tools, 12:15 pm, ages 4–7
Gain special access into Space 8 in this super cool Think Lab! In Tinkering with Tools, hammer down the basics of woodworking by tinkering with pull saws, hammers and hand drills. The best part? You get to create (and keep!) your very own wooden keepsake.
Woodworking, 2:15 pm or 4:15 pm, ages 8+
Tinker with power tools in this advanced Think Lab for ages 8 and up! Yeah, that’s right, POWER TOOLS. Try your hand at tabletop saws, belt sanders and corded drills. In Woodworking, learn effective and safe use of tools while making your very own wooden keepsake.
