Simple Stitches, 12:15 pm, ages 4–7
Want a sneak peek into Space 8, our maker lab for ages 8 and up? Well, now’s the perfect time to take a look. In Simple Stitches, we’ll learn sewing basics and play around with polymer fabrics before designing, stitching and sewing our very own stuffed animals.
Polymer Wearables, 2:15 pm or 4:15 pm, ages 8+
Experiment with needlework and play around with polymer wearables in Space 8! Think Lab participants will use polymer fabric and unfamiliar materials to create unique designs. Get your stitch on!

All Around Austin: University of Texas, 9 am–12 pm, ages 0–3
Our popular All Around Austin series concludes with an imaginary trip to the University of Texas at Austin. Build towers, whip up Blanton-inspired art and learn what it means to be a Longhorn. Hook ‘em at Baby Bloomers!
Wednesday, August 31
Community Night, 4–8 pm, all ages
Join us every Wednesday from 4–8 pm, when admission to the museum is by donation. At Community Night, pay what you can (requested donation is $1) and enjoy extended access to Thinkery exhibits and programming. This week, join us in Kitchen Lab for hands-on Building with Biology activities facilitated by local scientists.

Touring Texas: The Alamo, 9–10 am, ages 0–3
Well, we’ve already bid farewell to our beloved hometown. You know what that means—our September Baby Bloomers series, Touring Texas, takes a look at the Lone Star State! Where are we heading first? The Alamo, of course! Join us for an imaginative “tour” of this historic Texas landmark.

Do you have a little builder at home? Grab your hard hat, head to Thinkery, and get ready to tinker and build! Together, we’ll play with ramps and practice our hammering skills in these engaging, hands-on Early Learners Workshops.
Suminagashi Fabcrics, 11:15 am or 1:15 pm or 3:15 pm, ages 4+
It’s a brand-new month, and we’re kicking off a brand-new batch of Think Labs! This month in Kitchen Lab, learn about the ancient Japanese marbling technique of Suminagashi. We’re blending floating inks in pools of water to create customized works of art.
