Help a kiddo build a structurally sound “moat” for their fairy tale castle. Rock out to some wacky instruments. Get medieval while helping campers build Minecraft skills. Does this sound right up your alley? Well, we’re looking for a few Counselors-in-Training to help out in Thinkery Camp!
Thinkery’s Counselors-in-Training (CIT) program is an engaging and exciting way for local teenagers (ages 13–18) to serve as STEAM role models in our hands-on summer camp program. Our weeklong STEAM, robotics and programming camps explore a variety of fun and inspiring themes, and CITs have the opportunity to work in one of our FIVE Thinkery Camp locations across Austin.
In addition to helping campers engage in Thinkery Camps, individual goals are set to ensure each participant develops new skills and gains valuable work experience that is transferable to future academic and career endeavors. It’s also a fun way to earn volunteer hours and credit—five teens from our Summer 2017 cohort received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award.
If selected, Summer 2018 cohort participants must commit to attending a series of training sessions. There are two training options—an AM training time or a PM training time, typically held the first week of summer.
Know a teen who may be interested in a summer full of fun and learning? Submit your application soon—the deadline for consideration is Monday, April 30. Apply today!
