For the last 10 months, Thinkery has had the great joy and honor of having Jaquy be a part of the Thinkery Team as our first Advancement Team intern! During her time, she made a lasting impact supporting with all things fundraising, graphic design, grant research, website development, admin support, and more! While the entire Thinkery organization is sad to see Jaquy go, we know she is going to do BIG things.
“Jaquy joined our team in September and quickly became integral to who we are. We will truly miss having her as a teammate but we are so excited to see where she goes from here because we know she will thrive wherever she is. Jaquy, thank you for sharing your time, talent, passions, and beautiful personality with us this year.” – Madeleine Edwards, Thinkery’s Grants Manager & Jaquy’s supervisor

What’s one of your favorite memories at Thinkery?
“Spark After Dark must be the most memorable night of my life. Working up towards that night, I had worked on a slideshow, and I had shivers just thinking about how my work would be received. Hearing Nuria give it the okay made my heart jump for joy. That night was such a whirl of images, everything was so fast, but I had a moment afterwards when I was about to leave. I was heading up to the office when I bumped into Nuria. She asked me if I had seen my work, and I said no since I had not had a moment to. She took me to where it was, and seeing it played on the projector was the moment where I thought, “Wow, this is real. I’m here, I’m doing actual work that I enjoy and stepping out of my shell.” That’s when I decided I had to take every opportunity that I could.”
What is something you learned during your internship?
“Through my time at Thinkery, I realized how important playful learning was. I was able to understand and experience how interactive education does not limit itself to age and instead should be continuously encouraged. Seeing all the kids so happy while developing skills they did not fully realize was incredible and wholesome.”
What does Thinkery mean to you?
“Thinkery, to me, is a developing, growing opportunity. Thinkery embraces growth, new methods, and implementations to allow kids to be the best versions of themselves, and I absolutely loved their mission and how they act towards it.”
Would you recommend this internship experience to others? If so, why?
“Of course, I would recommend this internship to others. I had an amazing time learning and participating in different projects. Everyone is so welcoming, understanding, and encouraging. I had a wonderful experience not only learning about various positions, but meeting so many great individuals and working on my confidence level. I am so thankful for everyone I have met on this journey, and I hope future interns can appreciate the opportunity just as I have.”
