The next few months are jam-packed with hands-on, fun-filled and STEAM-fueled activities for your family to enjoy. Just take a look at our special summertime Think Labs!
Ready to dive deep into innovative art and science topics? Our summertime Think Labs were designed with families in mind! Think Labs take place on Saturdays and Sundays in either Kitchen Lab or Space 8, with sessions at various times to accommodate busy schedules. (We’ve all got ’em.) Perfect for caregivers and children ages 4+, each STEAM-focused Think Lab is held in a small group setting for a completely collaborative experience. Are you ready to create and collaborate? Pop by Kitchen Lab for an anatomy lesson! In our biology-focused Cow Eye Dissection Think Lab, we’ll learn about human anatomy by exploring an eyeball. Together, each adult/child pair will dissect a cow eye and investigate the science behind the incredible sense of sight. The cow eyes used are preserved in a safe solution free of formalin odor. Ages 4+.
Need a wardrobe refresh? You’re in luck! We’re creating light-up E-Wearables in Space 8! Team up to tackle the basics of circuitry and textile art as you create a wearable work of electronic art. Ages 4+.
August
In August, explore science and technology through art! We’re using creative techniques to produce beautiful works of take-home art all month long. In Kitchen Lab, discover Suminagashi—an ancient Japanese marbling process. Blend floating ink in pools of water to produce custom swirling creations. Ages 4+.
Get funky with everyday materials (and channel your inner Warhol!) in our Printmaking Galore workshop in Space 8. You’ll use familiar materials in unfamiliar ways to make unique edition prints with stamps, scribbles and doodles. Ages 4+.
September
Back to school—back to fun and learning! We’ll wrap up our summer Think Labs with two hands-on, family-friendly workshops. In Decoding DNA, we’ll explore scientific techniques to extract DNA from fruits and vegetables and take a closer look under microscopes. Ages 4+.
Over in Space 8, we’re setting up our Back-to-School Makershop! We’ll hone and sharpen our sewing skills as we create pencil bags using age-appropriate tools and materials. Programs available for ages 4+ and 8+.
