The Health and Wellbeing of
our Visitors is our Top Priority
The safety and well-being of the children and families we serve are our top priorities. Thinkery is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and cleanliness, ensuring a welcoming and secure environment for all visitors.
Museum & Gallery Cleaning Procedures
- A professional cleaning team sanitizes restrooms and common areas throughout operating hours, with deep cleaning—including floors, restrooms, and surfaces—conducted when the museum is closed.
- The Museum Experience Team sanitizes all exhibits daily, including loose parts like play food, blocks, and light pegs with a peroxide multi-surface cleaner and natural disinfectant cleaner.
- Water exhibits are filtered and UV-sterilized continuously, treated daily with bromine (a mild disinfectant), and undergo weekly deep treatment with a non-chlorine, potassium monopersulfate.
- Hand hygiene & air quality are prioritized with hand sanitizer stations throughout the museum, and continuous fresh air circulation utilizing medical grade air filters.
- Pest control includes both regularly scheduled and on-demand treatments as needed.
Family Health and Wellness
We’re doing our part to keep our community healthy and safe from illnesses. There are additional steps that you can take to help prevent the spread of germs and viruses.
If someone in your group is sick, please visit us some other time
For the health and safety of all our guests, we ask that any child or adult with an elevated temperature or an illness that may be contagious (such as pink eye, a cold, or the flu) not visit Thinkery until they are fully recovered.
A good rule of thumb: if you’re too sick to go to school (or work), you should plan to visit Thinkery another time.
Be proactive! Take simple steps to protect your child.
- Wash your hands with soap and water frequently. It takes 15-20 seconds to get them clean enough.
- Avoid touching a person who is obviously sick.
- Avoid touching your own eyes and face (viruses can transmit from our hands into our bodies).
- Please cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough. Remember to cough and sneeze into your elbow (the “vampire sneeze”) or into a tissue, not into your hand.
- Stay up to date on all recommended vaccines and boosters.
Thinkery strongly supports the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommendation that all children receive vaccinations. We request—but do not require—that Thinkery guests are vaccinated for MMR and other transmittable diseases, including COVID-19 (as available); proof of vaccination is not needed to gain entry.
Visitor Safety
Safety Policies
Thinkery has safety policies that prioritize the safety of our visitors, staff, and community. These policies include but are not limited to, lost child/caregiver, appropriate communications and redirections, and strict bathroom behavior and access policies.
Safety Plan & Training
Thinkery maintains a comprehensive safety plan that includes emergency procedures, Code Adam protocols for missing children, and reporting requirements for any incident that could pose harm to visitors and staff. The plan is updated regularly, and all staff are trained during their onboarding process and on an ongoing basis
Background Checks
All 18+ Thinkery employees and volunteers undergo a criminal background check.
Adults who visit the museum without children are screened through Raptor VisitorSafe.
